Training

To participate in any of this training, Auxiliarists must submit an SF-86 by July 1 and have favorable DO PSI status by December 31, 2006.

To indicate interest in a particular program, register on D13 AUXPAL.

These training programs are designed and presented by Active Duty or Reserve Coast Guard members or, in some cases, Auxiliarists holding the qualification . In requesting and receiving the training, and being awarded an associated qualification, an Auxiliarist commits to supporting the Coast Guard in a related position.


Oil Spill Observer 101

This 1-1/2 hour class trains participants to observe and report on oil spills. It can be taken by any Auxiliarist any time it is held. Please RSVP to the organizer to ensure sufficient seating and materials.

Pollution Investigator Assistant (Trident AUX-ED)

See Course Syllabus for detailed information on training.

Scheduled Classes:

0800, 24 June- USCG Sector Seattle, WA in the Coho Room (FRO) First Responder Operations Training (HAZWOPER 08 Hr. Course) (POC MST3 Brown)


Port State Control Boarding Assistant (Trident AUX-IAD)

  • There is no classroom training for this qualification - it is all OJT.
  • At this time, training is only available in Seattle and Tacoma.
  • Register on D13 AUXPAL under “Homeland Security and Marine Safety”.
  • Participants available on weekdays are particularly needed.


Operation Center Watchstander Assistant (AUX-OCWS, not Trident)

  • There is no classroom training for this qualification - it is all OJT.
  • Training and assignments are available only in Seattle.
  • This position requires a security clearance prior to beginning OJT in the Operation Center. However, the course has requirements that can be accomplished outside the Operations Center after your SF-86 has been submitted.
  • Assignments available 24x7.
  • Register on D13 AUXPAL under “Homeland Security and Marine Safety”.


Harbor Safety Specialist (Trident AUX-EK)

  • At this time, priority is given to candidates in an earlier class who were not able to finish due to other commitments on the part of the Coast Guard. When those members have been accommodated, the next class will be announced.
  • At this time, training is only available in Seattle. However, there are plans to expand it to other areas later in 2006.
  • Register on D13 AUXPAL under “Homeland Security and Marine Safety” to be notified when future classes are announced.


Facility Inspector Assistant (Trident AUX-EU)

  • AUX-EK qualification is a prerequisite for this class.
  • New classes will be announced periodically.
  • Register on D13 AUXPAL under “Homeland Security and Marine Safety” to be notified when future classes are announced.


Container Inspector Assistant (Trident AUX-CI)

  • AUX-EK qualification is a prerequisite for this class.
  • New classes will be announced periodically.
  • Register on D13 AUXPAL under “Homeland Security and Marine Safety” to be notified when future classes are announced.
